Zanaya Chaudhary is a dedicated Transgender Activist and Human Rights Defender from Lahore, Pakistan. Since 2012, Zanaya has been actively working towards defending human rights and is currently the District Focal Person for Skills Development. With a project management background and previous experience as a community coordinator in a non-profit organization called SATHI FOUNDATION, Zanaya has led a team of 10 transgender community members across Pakistan to collect human rights violation cases and provide legal, social, and psycho support. Born and raised in Lahore, Zanaya came out as transgender at the age of 15 and had to struggle with her family for acceptance. After successfully sensitizing her family about her gender by the age of 21, Zanaya pursued her passion for helping others. She volunteered at Jinnah Hospital to help needy and deserving people and continued her education in art and designing. Zanaya has since become a professional designer and has remained dedicated to the transgender community. She has volunteered for various community projects and served multiple NGOs and NPOs under several capacities. Zanaya has also served as a board member for Aasra, chaired the Forum of Dignity and Initiative on Transgender Advocacy, and worked with the Transgender Welfare Board of Pakistan. She has actively participated in various events, protests, and discussions, including the Lahore Aurat March. Zanaya is a spokesperson for HumAwaz for All Gender and Minorities, and as the Focal Person for Transgender Pride Pakistan 2020, she is a proud member of the COVID-19 Young Task Force for Transgender. Currently, she is assigned as the Focal Person for sports and games for the Transgender Community in Punjab.
