Sherkan Malik, Director of Programs at Transgender Rights Consultants Pakistan (TRCP), is a distinguished human rights expert, journalist, researcher, and development specialist. With extensive experience in minority rights advocacy, gender equity programs, and public interventions, Sherkan has collaborated with government institutions like FOSPAH, NCHR, and NCSW to champion transgender rights. His research on gender variance within the khawaja sira community and his work in journalism, including directing documentaries on minority issues and transgender laws, demonstrate his commitment to social change. As a technical advisor, Sherkan contributes to policy development for religious minorities and khawaja sira inclusion at federal and provincial levels. He serves as an expert consultant for national and international rights organizations and is a recognized trainer in transgender sensitization for police and media personnel. Notably, Sherkan established and oversees Pakistan’s largest shelter home for transgender individuals, the Khawaja Sira Shelter Home in Islamabad.
